IT Security Policy, Driver Communication Policy and IT Equipment Disposal

This three policies are part of the C-TPAT Minimum Security Criteria (MSC), and necessary to maintain your C-TPAT registration.

1. IT Security Policy includes: Password Protection, Accountability, Data Breach and Recovery, Media, Hardware and IT Equipment Inventory, Procedure for Update Security Software and FAST Transponder Controls. The Policy is required by C-TPAT Minimum Security Criteria and should be implemented in every carrier's office.
2. Driver Communication Policy is a part of every driver's Initial Orientation Process and is required by C-TPAT MSC. It includes: FMCSA Rules of using all types of hand-held devices on the road, penalties and exemptions.
3. Media, Hardware and IT Equipment Disposal Policy is required by C-TPAT MSC and should be implemented by all C-TPAT registered carriers. The Policy includes: Overview, Purpose, Scope, Company Policy and compliance regarding proper disposal of equipment as environmentally responsibility and a law requirement. In addition, hard drives, USB drives, CD-ROMs and other storage media contain various kinds of the company data, some of which is considered sensitive. In order to protect our constituent’s data, all storage mediums must be properly erased before being disposed of.
